THE CANADIAN BIBLE SOCIETY CELEBRATES THE 3RD ANNUAL THUNDER RUN RIDE

Toronto, ON - June 24, 2009 — Since 2007, the south-central, Ontario Canadian Bible Society (CBS) district has been organizing a fundraiser called Thunder Run - attracting people, who enjoy riding motorcycles for a good cause, as much as this district's Director - Dennis Hillis.

Each year, the Thunder Run ride is in support of providing Bibles for either Canadian military personnel or newcomers to Canada. On June 20th, Thunder Run was in support of "Operation Bible", which is sending additional Bibles to Afghanistan.

The event takes place at Braeside Camp just outside of Paris, Ontario, and the following sponsors supported this year's ride through either corporate sponsorships or gifts.

Burlington Cycle, Goodyear - Beech Tire in Hamilton, Home Building Supply in Brantford, Walco Equipment in Elmira, Rainbow Marketing in Dunnville, Zdeno Cycle in Kitchener, Sturgis in Hamilton, Royal Distributing in Guelph, and 2 Wheel Sport in Guelph.

Typically, the bikers ride in groups of 20 and they return to a barbeque, prize draws, biker games, and a concert that was put on this year by the band 2fish. Of the Thunder Run ride, CBS District Director, Dennis Hillis says, "Out of all of the special interest groups, Bikers are the most generous and caring individuals. They are also a bit crazy and they like to have fun. These riders came out in the rain to raise money so that our military personnel can have their own Bibles. When they are in a foreign land and in harms way, they can reach into their pocket and find the hope, comfort and inspiration that Scripture promises."
